I hope everyone has a great holiday season. I’m shooting a Christmas Eve proposal this afternoon, and then will be off spending the next few days with my family, so I may be slower to respond to emails until after the new year. Happy holidays!

I hope everyone has a great holiday season. I’m shooting a Christmas Eve proposal this afternoon, and then will be off spending the next few days with my family, so I may be slower to respond to emails until after the new year. Happy holidays!

My birthday was a couple weeks ago. I’ve been freaking out about my 30th birthday since I turned 25, so I knew I needed to do something big so I wouldn’t be sitting at home moping over it.
My idea was “Roaring out of the 20s”: a 1920s themed event that turned my house into a speakeasy, complete with period drinks, gambling, and dancing! It was AMAZING.

The cake was designed after my invitations by Sweetface Cakes and looked perfect. And the taste was out of the this world! The bottom layer was chocolate espresso with chocolate ganache filling and the top layer was red velvet with caramel cream cheese filling. All topped with the best buttercream I’ve ever tasted and then a layer of fondant.
I hired bartender, Kristen Aplin, to make all our specialty themed drinks. The menu included champagne, martinis, aviations, bronxes, manhattans, old fashioneds, and mint juleps.

Spangler Entertainment provided a craps table for the night, and David Hendricks did a great job as the dealer. After he left, we opened up the floor to do some dancing!

And, of course, there was a photo booth. Here’s a sampling of the 300+ photos I got! Don’t you love everyone’s costumes?

I am so grateful to everyone who made it out. Thank you so much for making it the best 30th birthday ever!
Hope everyone has had a great Halloween! You all know it’s one of my favorite holidays, and I start prepping for it early. This year was no exception, so I wanted to share my Black Swan costume with you!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to wear it much, since I was crazy busy this weekend with a wedding and a bridal show (posts on both of those to come soon), and I spent Halloween night sick and catching up on “The Walking Dead”.
I’d love to know what your costumes were!
I took a brief vacation over the past weekend to visit my best friend Sabrina and her family in the Virginia Beach area. It was a fun-filled trip with a day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (I hadn’t been there since I was 11 or 12!) and the beach, of course.
She has two very cute kids, whom you might recall from Kaleb’s birthday photos.

There may have even been some photos taken of me, which is rare.

Jonathan attempted to surf, but the waves weren’t very big…

I miss my best friend (and the beach
) already and can’t wait until we can do it again!
I find that most of my non-business-related photography involves my cats (one of which is clawing my toes as I type this), so I thought it might be fun to share photos of them one Saturday each month. Hence, Caturday!
So to start this off, here’s a brief introduction to each of them:

This is Oscar. He, along with his sister Vera, were rescue kitties that I adopted in December 2007 as kittens. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know he’s a cat. He likes to jump on strangers when they walk in the door. He comes when you call him. He jumps in the shower with me (as long as the water isn’t hitting his face, he doesn’t seem to care). And he does funny things like this:
Oscar is definitely the more outgoing of my two cats. He can also be jealous and if you pet any other cat, expect Oscar to be right there rubbing up against your legs to get his share.

This is Vera. You may remember her from last year’s Christmas card. She’s the shy one. She gets really anxious around strangers and prefers to go into hiding, though she’s a total Mama’s girl. She loves music and purrs as loud as she can when I sing along to certain songs. She’s basically just like me.![]()

This is Dragnor, who is my boyfriend’s cat, but she’s been staying with us recently. Oscar and Vera are still kind of wary of her, but Vera has stopped having anxiety around her and has actually learned that she can sneak up on Dragnor and scare her. While my cats only really like having their heads petted, Dragnor is the opposite. She loves having her back rubbed and loves being brushed.
Any of you have cats? If so, check out the blog Cat Vs Human. It’s funny cause it’s true.
